The Saint John Newcomers Centre Announces 6th International Culture Fest
The Saint John Newcomers Centre (SJNC) is proud to announce that the 6th edition of the International Culture Fest will be staged on the New Brunswick Day weekend, August 3rd and 4th, 2024. Once again, the event will be held in partnership with the AREA 506 Music Festival.
The International Culturefest has become a shining celebration of Saint John’s rich cultural tapestry, reflecting the city’s increasing ethno-cultural diversity through impressive growth in participation and representation.
What started as a modest event will transform the city’s waterfront next to the Container Village into a vibrant street party along Water Street this summer. Building on last year’s success, which attracted 10,000 attendees – one of the largest cultural festivals in New Brunswick – organizers expect even higher participation in 2024.
“We are thrilled to host the 6th edition of the International Culturefest, which has become a beloved annual tradition in Saint John,” said Mohamed Bagha, Managing Director of the Saint John Newcomers Centre. We are proud to partner with the AREA 506 Music Festival for a second year, creating a truly immersive experience that celebrates both local and international talents.”
“AREA 506 celebrates the best of New Brunswick music, culture and goods, and this partnership allows us to highlight the many cultures that are a fabric of New Brunswick,” says Darcy LeBlanc, Director of Operations at AREA 506. “It’s a unique opportunity to come together, to learn about one another, and appreciate the diversity that makes New Brunswick such a vibrant place to live.”
The Festival promises a true cultural feast for the senses, featuring:
- Artistic performances representing various traditions
- A cultural village showcasing heritage from over 40 ethno-cultural groups now residing in Saint John
- A tempting array of international street foods
- A large craft fair
- A collaborative street art project created by local youth
“The International Culturefest is an important event that showcases the diversity and richness of cultures in Saint John,” said Lori Carle, Marketing and PR Manager at Saint John Airport. “As the gateway for many newcomers, we are honored to support this wonderful celebration that unites people from all walks of life.
The Festival’s success reflects Saint John’s increasingly vibrant cultural landscape. By partnering with local pillars like Bell, Saint John Airport (YSJ), Envision Saint John, and NAAS Immigration Services, the event has become a cherished annual tradition.
“Bell is proud to be a part of this incredible celebration of the diverse cultures that make Saint John such a vibrant and welcoming city. We’re thrilled to support the International Culturefest as it continues to grow and showcase the best of what Saint John has to offers,” says Helena Cain, Bell VP of Atlantic for Bell Business Markets, further underscoring the community’s embrace of the International Culturefest.
